Orlando..Creatively Speaking

As a photographer in the Orlando area for almost 20 years my camera lense and myself have seen so much change, not only as one of the many working its way in/out and around orlando, but also myself, as an avid patron of the city's livelyhood, addicted to the thought that there was something going on I didn't want to miss.

The excitement of days long gone, when church street was a bustling fever of clubbers, shoppers, tourists and the streets were filled with excitement. Jungle Jim's was a staple to start off a great night, Howl at the Moon was a half hour wait at the door and no one thought twice about it. Walking down orange avenue actually felt like you were in a city that had its finger on the pulse of its people...with clubs, nightlife and great energy.

The events of the day were always over the top and BAHAMA BEACH CLUB was the spot. Where is that connection today? Where has the energy of this city gone? I'd like to know who is calling the shots and why we have let Orlando, fall into the era of too old and almost forgotten....when We are a young city with endless possibilities.

Its just a thought, but maybe with the crazy turning of our economy, perhaps now is the time to redesign and rebuild the synergy of yesterday into a new bustling orlando of today. What we are needing are visioneers, investors willing to take a chancce, to step up and develop events, creative individuals and designers that will think outside the present blue prints and develop concepts of a more colorful shade.

We are creatures drawn by one's passions, excitement. What we need/desire are the passions of this city's people, to once again, entice us back into the downtown streets of orlando that we once loved and hopefully still do. Creativity and color are what Orlando Needs now more than ever!
